Reliance always schedules its new launches and services during its AGM meet which will be held on July 5 every year. Last year Reliance Jio launched the first 4G based feature phone with JioPhone on the same date and we have the successor launched with JioPhone 2. Just not that we also got the new JioGigaFiber broadband services officially launched which brings some IoT devices along with it.
Reliance JioPhone 2:
Reliance Jio finally unveiled the successor with JioPhone 2 to its most sold feature phone the JioPhone. The new JioPhone 2 looks like Nokia E-series based feature phone with QWERTY keypad and similar design. The JioPhone 2 is made out of plastic and will have single color with Black.
The new JioPhone 2 will sport 2.4 inches QVGA display with a resolution of 320*240p. It features a QWERTY keypad with a 4-way navigation key. It will feature the same set of cameras with VGA selfie camera and 2MP rear camera one found on the predecessor.
We are still not sure whether the JioPhone 2 will use the Spreadtrum/Snapdragon-based chipset one found on JioPhone. It will feature 4GB internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card coupled with 512MB RAM.
The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE (It has cat.4 LTE support with download speeds of up to 150Mbps with support both LTE (Band 3,5,40) and 2G (900/1800), Wifi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, FM Radio, GPS, 3.5 mm audio port and micro USB port. It is fueled by the same 2000 mAh battery and runs on Kai OS out of the box.
With JioPhone 2 Reliance Jio also announces the WhatsApp, YouTube, and Facebook support for the device. The JioPhone 2 is overpriced at Rs.2999/- and will go on sale from Aug 15.
Reliance JioGigaFiber:
Reliance Jio also announced the much-awaited broadband service with JioGigaFiber today at Annual AGM meet. The new JioGigaFiber is Connected Home or IoT feature which offers speeds up to whopping 1Gbps with GigaRouter that is connected to GigaTV Set-top box so that one can watch live TV with the help of JioTV app along with other Jio apps like JioCinema, JioMusic, and JioTV Video calling.
Jio also launched the Jio Remote with all necessary buttons along with Voice control. It also connects to smart devices like Smart Speakers, Smart plugs and many more. Jio also announced some smart products like Jio Smart Home Door Bell, water sensor, smoke sensor, and gas leak sensors which will be compatible with JioGigaFiber network.
The above IoT products can be operated through Jio Smart Home App. The new JioGigaFiber along with JioGigaTV and Smart products can be set up within an hour as per Reliance Jio.
Currently, the new JioGigaFiber is still under Beta phase with 10,000 homes across India. The new JioGiGaFiber will be made available from Aug 15 for registration for your interest via MyJio app and Jio website. Jio further mentioned that the new JioGigaFiber service will roll out to those areas where they have received a max number of applications.
Apart from this, Reliance Jio has also announced a new offer Jio Monsoon Hungama under this scheme one can exchange their old phone for the new JioPhone which will cost just Rs.501 over the actual price of Rs.1500/-. The new Jio Monsoon Hungama will be effective from July 21.
