Microsoft has not released any smartphone since 2016 and fans are eagerly waiting for the rumored Surface Phone which is nowhere till date. Now we have got a new leak suggesting that Microsoft is planning to launch smartphones running on Android OS.

As per the chat, Microsoft employee chat who are claiming to be the engineers of Windows Phone mentions that Microsoft is now planning to launch a new phone but no details about the model name nor the specs at the moment. The chat further reveals that the phone will not be running on Windows 10 OS instead will be running on Android OS.

This is not the first time Microsoft launching the Android OS running smartphone earlier we saw Microsoft partnered with Nokia to launch the forked version of Android running device with Microsoft services and no Google services with Nokia X and Nokia XL which turned out to be a disaster in the market.

But with dipping sales of Windows Phone Microsoft shift its focus to Android Apps and is currently launching many Android and iOS apps like Microsoft Launcher, Microsoft Office 360 etc which are also got popular among masses and with this new leak we can expect Microsoft might bring similar device running on Android but will not have Google services instead will come with Microsoft apps and services.
