Xiaomi finally brings the Redmi S2 to Indian shores with a new name called Redmi Y2 which is the successor to the last year launched Redmi Y1. Xiaomi Redmi Y2 comes in Elegant Gold, Rose Gold, and Dark Grey colors. The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is priced at Rs.9999/- for 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage whereas 12,999/- for 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant. The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 will be exclusive to Amazon and will also be available on Mi.com, all leading Mi Home outlets across India starting from June 12.
The launch offers includes flat Rs.500/- off when purchased via ICICI credit/debit card, Airtel is bundling 240GB 4G data along with Rs.1800/- cashback.
Xiaomi Redmi Y2 features all-metal unibody construction with U-shaped antenna bands on the top and bottom of the device back. The device weighs 170 grams and is 8.1 mm thick.
Xiaomi Redmi Y2 sports 5.99 inches HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and resolution of 1440*720p which is covered with 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by SD625 SoC coupled with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage option which can be expanded via microSD cards up to 256GB.
The main highlight of the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is the 16MP selfie camera with LED flash and support for Face Unlock. It features 12MP primary camera with an aperture of f/2.2, PDAF, LED flash, 1.25μm pixel size and secondary 5MP camera. It is the first smartphone under Redmi series to come with AI camera.
The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE support, Wifi, Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS, GPS, GLONASS, IR Blaster, fingerprint scanner, micro USB port, and 3.5 mm audio jack. All this is fueled by 3080 mAh battery and runs on Android 8.1 with MIUI 9 on top.
