In current smartphone market which is flooded with many Android devices still running on older version of Android i.e Android 7.0 or even older and device manufacturer hardly give any updates to these devices.
Now Google has announced that all devices manufactured after 31 March 2018 must compulsory run on Android Oreo out of the box if not those devices will not get the Google certification. So probably Google will not provide the certification to devices which are running on Android 7.1.1 or below if the devices are manufactured after March 31 and will not ship with Google default apps.
This is a great move by Google which is now forcing device manufacturers to launch devices on the latest version of Android rather than launching the device with an older version of Android which hardly get any updates. As new Android Oreo also comes with Project Trebble support which helps OEM to push the Android updates on a regular basis without tweaking the OS which was present in an older version of Android.
So this move is a big win for consumers who will now get timely software updates if the device is launched with Android Oreo OS.But we are still not sure whether the device manufacturers will ever update their devices up to two years which we rarely find and smartphone under budget and mid-range segment getting the major OS update.
