Ahead of International Women’s Day, Google India launched its campaign #HerStoryOurStory, to unfold and uncover the inspiring stories of everyday women. Aimed at celebrating women’s voices and bind them all together through relatable stories, the campaign is a step towards helping women across India find relatable role models and take the first step towards pursuing their own dreams and ambitions.
As part of the campaign, Google will be sharing woman hero stories through online videos, putting the spotlight on women who have not just fought societal, cultural and economic barriers to achieve their dreams but are also redefining women’s role in our society, business through technology. Through their stories of trials, hope and success, the campaign aims to encourage, empower and inspire women across India, to find their answers in others stories and go on to create their own success stories.
Sapna Chadha, Director Marketing, SEA and India, Google said, “Many studies show that one of the major barriers that prevent women in India from growing, is the lack of relatable and realistic role models from a similar background. We’re committed to empowering women, across both urban and rural India by investing in providing access to tools and skill sets required to grow and succeed. On International Women’s Day we want to bring forward stories and voices of women who are not just transforming their lives but also their communities along the way. We are celebrating the success of women from all walks of life – who can inspire many more women to follow their dreams.”
Through this campaign, Google aims to support and surface every story, every first step, every dream of women – in urban and rural India who are overcoming barriers and succeeding.

Women in STEM who stand for everything inspiration
Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay, Vidita Vaidya and Shubha Tole tell us how they are not the standard story of a young girl in India and share their tales of discoveries in the field of technology.
These stories can help women overcome the initial inhibitions, thereby encouraging them to share a story that can help many other women to break the closet and share their own. If you have a story you want to share, don’t think twice and post the same on your social handle using #HerStoryOurStory.
After all your story can be her story and hers’ could be yours.
