Samsung is now planning to launch an online exclusive smartphone to take on Xiaomi as it most of the devices sold on e-commerce.
Samsung is all set to launch an online exclusive series which will not sell offline markets and will be priced aggressively. Samsung will launch the devices in the range from Rs.5000 to Rs.15000.
As of now, Samsung is in the second position and Xiaomi is on the top position due to its wide range of budget smartphones sold last year including the highest selling smartphone with Redmi Note 4.Samsung has also launched Online exclusive lineup with On series which are exclusive to Amazon and is planning to launch a new device this week under sub 12K segment.
Samsung has recently launched their latest mid-range smartphone the Samsung Galaxy A8+ exclusive to Amazon to tackle the Xiaomi Mi Mix which is also priced similarly.Xiaomi MD Manu Jain also told ET that most of the Xiaomi products sold Online when compared to offline markets and has a share of 50% which Samsung is planning to target this year.
Samsung already has nearly 1.5 lakhs offline shops which sell Samsung products and now Samsung is entering under e-commerce markets and doesn’t want to neglect the offline stores. Currently, Xiaomi is also growing its offline markets slowly but will take time.Samsung has also reduced the number of trade partners fulfilling the online orders from 10-12 to 2-3 now for better sales margins.
