As per the KIPO website, the patent registration number is 30-0928968.The patent was filed by Samsung on Oct 25, 2016, and was finalized by KIPO on Nov 1, 2017.With patent notes, there are also design sketches leaked which might be used for upcoming devices.The patent notes tell us that the patent is applied for the smartphone design and another manufacturer cannot make the exactly similar shape of this design for their smartphone, it also further tells us that even it applies to both shape and material used.
The material listed on the patent are synthetic resin and metal.There is no patent applied for placement of some parts of the device like the 3.5 mm audio jack, speaker, sensors, charging port, and camera sensor which are not included in the patent.The patent is not applicable to the physical power and volume rockers place on either side of the device but the patent is applicable for the oval-shaped physical home button below the display.
From the design sketches, we are not sure whether the device patent is for already released smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S8 or Note 8 or for the future devices.However, the patent further specifies that the items to be designed which is enough to tell the above design id for future devices and might be for the rumored Samsung Galaxy S9.
